Guangcai Foundation’s New Council Holds 1st Meeting

  At the 1st meeting of the 3rd Council of the China Guangcai Foundation in Beijing on December 7, United Front Work Department Director Sun Chunlan said the Foundation has played a significant role and won wide acclaims for mobilizing figures of the non-public economy in participation in poverty alleviation and development and social welfare causes since its establishment in December 2005 and she urged the newly-elected Council to make greater contribution to the critical battle of poverty eradication and healthy growth of the non-public sector and its figures. 

          

  ACFIC CPC Secretary and the China Guangcai Society Chairman Quan Zhezhu asked the Council to focus on propelling villages-enterprises partnerships and industrial development-based assistance through the “10,000 Enterprises Assist 10,000 Villages” Program and the Guangcai Tour activities with an eye to solving the most difficult and pressing issues of social sphere and people’s livelihoods and cultivating and spreading the Guangcai Spirit and the culture of charity.

              

  The meeting reviewed and approved the 2nd Council’s Work Report, Financial Report, and the Draft Amendment of the Charter of the Foundation. Li Lu was elected Director-General of the 3rd Council, Nan Cunhui, Li Zhantong and Li Xinyan were elected Deputy Directors-General, and Yu Min’an the Secretary-General.

            

  Over the past five years, the 2nd Council carried out 16 public benefit projects, including renovation of the unsafe buildings of revolutionary martyrs’ families in Yanbian of Jilin Province and the organic Chinese Wolfberry plantation in the biological relocation area of Tongxin County of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region; allocated various funding out of eight special funds, including the Tibetan Cultural Heritage Preservation Special Fund and the Guangcai-Minsheng Bank Special Fund for Treatment of Tibetan Children with Prenatal Heart Diseases; and collaborated with other organizations in carrying out a string of projects, including the Health Promotion Project in Tibet and 4 Tibetan Regions supported by the Oceanwide Foundation, and the Red-core Kiwifruit Farm Program in Siyan Village of the post-quake Lushan County of Ya’an City.

          

  The Guangcai Foundation, a national public fund-raising organization with figures of the non-public economy as key members, was rated a 4A social group by the Civil Affairs Ministry in 2014.
